What causes fogging on eyewear lenses?
Fogging on lenses is caused when there is an imbalance between the air temperature and relative humidity. This occurs on warm days as well as cold days. The imbalance causes excess water vapour molecules suspended in the air to be deposited on the lens in the form of dew droplets. The real problem with lens condensation is that water does not deposit uniformly on a surface. Due to the lens surface tension, water molecules would rather bind to themselves than to the surface and the result is millions of bulbous "dew droplets". It is these droplets that create the fog effect that prevents a clear visibility.
How does Microclair Sports anti-fog treatment works?
Microclair anti-fog treatment renders the surface of the lens hydrophilic (wettable surface), hence droplets don't form anymore, but instead they spread as a thin transparent film of water across the entire lens surface so you can see through the film. It prevents the build-up of water vapour molecules on a lens; this in turns prevents an opaque film from forming. Your lenses and vision stay clear when you make the transition from a cold environment to a warm one. It may also keep your lenses from fogging up during sports and other times you are past the warm up phase and perspiring.
Are foggy lenses dangerous?
Condensation on sports sunglasses, sports eyewear, goggles and helmet visors obstruct the vision that can affect sports performance. It is more than just a nuisance, it can potentially be dangerous if vision is obscured by haze... Fogged up lenses results in a blinding effect that can render an individual motionless anywhere from 30, 60, 90 seconds or longer. A lot can happen in a matter of seconds when it comes to unanticipated occurrences!
How do we best apply Microclair Anti-fog treatment?
The results can vary depending on how much product you apply, how often you rub it, the pressure when you're using the cloth, and the type of cloth. The best application is if the product is spread evenly over the surface with the finger, allowing 30 seconds to dry (solvent evaporates), and buffing or polishing gently a few times with Microclair streak-free microfibre cloth. Over rubbing will remove the product.

NO, it is imperative to when applying Microclair's anti-fog treatment, to use a clean and different cloth to that which you use to apply Microclair's hydrophobic treatment. Otherwise the two products effectively cancel each other out, and the best performance is not obtained from either product.
